Women Leading Water Spotlight Series

The water industry is driven by individuals who care deeply about the work they do.

Our Women Leading Water Spotlight Series features women from the organizations supporting this initiative by sharing their journeys, reflections on leadership, and what being a woman in water means to them today.

We’re grateful to spotlight the voices and perspectives that help strengthen and support the water community. Join us to celebrate Women Leading Water this March at The Water Tower.

Vice President

Collective Water Resources, LLC.

Can you share a bit about your journey and what led you to work in water? Please Make sure to include your name and title as well.

I am Stephanie Dunham P.E., Vice President at Collective Water Resources, LLC. I began my professional journey working in residential and commercial land development and public utility design in San Antonio, Texas. Analyzing storm drainage network and water distribution system hydraulics, designing stormwater detention systems, and preparing flood studies sparked my initial interest on water. With a move to Florida and a new job at the Southwest Florida Water Management District, my career in water began in earnest. My wholistic perspective of water management grew and became entrenched as an engineer supporting the District’s mission of protecting water resources within west-central Florida. With a change into private consulting serving public clients, I continue to focus on bringing scientifically-based solutions that balance the needs of the water-related environment, protect people and infrastructure from flood hazards, and improve water quality.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I am most grateful to be able to continually learn, share and engage with a broad group of colleagues, clients, and stakeholders while supporting both communities and the environment.

Why is celebrating women in water so important?

Celebrating women’s achievements encourages gender parity and expands the narrative of the people working in water professions.

What kind of community do you hope to help build?

My goal is to foster a scientifically-rigorous, collaborative, and service-oriented community that encourages curiosity and offers the safety to learn from both successes and mistakes.

We thank Stephanie and Collective Water Resources for supporting Women Leading Water and sharing their perspective with our community!
